Professional Development Lunch Seminars:
The Mentoring Committee sponsors lunch-time sessions on Monday (8th) and Tuesday (9th). This year's seminars are entitled, "Strategies and Tips for Successful Grant Writing: An NIH Perspective. A TWO PART GRANT WRITING SEMINAR. Both seminars feature an interactive panel of AAHB members who will share their wisdom and experience on grant writing. Seminars are free to registered members and students; non-members pay $25.
Lunch is provided FREE for the first 20 attendees that sign up for the seminar. These go fast, so sign up early! AAHB is approved by the National Commission for Health Education Credentializing as an official provider of category 1 CHES credits. Register for CHES credits at the Annual Meeting:
Cancellation Policy Up to December 15, 2009 $100 cancellation fee. No refunds after December 15, 2009. If the conference limit has been reached by the time of the conference, there will be no on-site registration.
Opening Poster Session and Reception: The conference will open with an evening poster session from 6-7 p.m. on Sunday (February 7th), followed by the Opening Reception where complementary drinks and hors d'oeurves will be served, from 7-8:30 p.m. A great time to meet other attendees in a casual, friendly environment.
First-Timers and Student Event: AAHB is committed to ensuring that new members, first time attendees and students feel welcome athe the Annual Meeting. Please don't miss the opening poster session and reception on Sunday night. It's a great way to meet folks informally before the meeting begins. And then, join the AAHB leaders for breakfast on Monday morning at the Breakfast Roundtables (see below). This event is held just for you. It's a great time to come meet the AAHB leaders, hear more about the organization - and enjoy a great free breakfast at the same time! And remember to take advantage of the small meeting venue throughout the meeting -- introduce yourself to others!
Monday (Feb 8th): Meet the Leaders The Monday breakfast roundtables offer an opportunity to meet, have breakfast, and network with pioneers and leaders in health behavior research. They are especially designed for first-time conference attendees, new or junior members, and students. We hope you will take this opportunity to introduce yourself and let us know who you are. Each of the tables will be facilitated by senior members of the American Academy of Health Behavior. This is a great opportunity to meet the leaders of the academy and learn more about what the academy offers. Tuesday (Feb 9th): Meet the Conference Speakers The Tuesday roundtables offer an opportunity to meet, have breakfast, and network with conference speakers. They are especially designed for all conference attendees who want to have extended, personal conversation with a conference speaker.

While having a rental car will allow you to explore more freely, you don't need a car to see the area. The hotel has Jolley Trolley, which has "two routes covering Clearwater Beach and Downtown. You don't have to be stuck in your hotel, motel, or inn. You can trolley the beach, end to end, or check out the Downtown stores for only a dollar. Fact is, you can stay on the trolley all day for the same dollar as long as you don't get off. Seniors sixty-five or older and children four to ten get to ride for fifty cents.. Kids under three ride FREE!"
